Why Does One Need To Wear Specific Shoes For Bowling?

We all know that bowling shoes can be downright hideous, but why do we even have to wear a specific shoe to go bowling? Well, due to the way that bowling alleys are made, it is necessary to wear a shoe that is designed to work with the surface instead of against it. Whether you decide to buy your own pair or not depends on whether you bowl frequently. If you are on a team the answer is obvious, or at least it should be, you need your own shoes. Not only will you have a pair that will fit you perfectly but you will save a good deal of money in the long run.

There a several factors to consider when shopping for bowling shoes. One of the first considerations is to examine the tread of the shoe, you want to be sure that the grip on the shoe that doesn't slide is good so that you don't end up sliding over the foul line. If necessary you can even get shoes that have something called "slide patches" too. The balance between the grip and the slide is critical to your game and this is why the majority of pro bowlers get theirs custom made for their own individual style.

Of course as with any shoe, the shoes you choose to bowl in should be very comfortable and this should be a top consideration. I guarantee you that you will not enjoy the game if you are uncomfortable or the shoes are causing you blisters. The bowling shoes you will find to buy are much more comfortable than the cheap ones you rent at the bowling alley. Try on different styles and brands to see which ones you like best. Even if you are going to buy your bowling shoes online this will help you to know which ones fit you best.

If you are an infrequent bowler who only bowls a couple of times year it is highly unlikely that you need to invest in another pair of shoes that are just going to sit in your closet. On the other hand if you are one of those that bowls every other week then you may want to consider buying a pair. Pro bowlers like any professional athletes are always trying to improve their game and by wearing the right bowling shoes it can make a huge difference.

What is really funny to me about bowling shoes is that we are now starting to see people wearing them as a fashion statement. The old standby traditional bow ling shoe gives one a little bit of a look of nostalgia in that they seemingly take you back in time a bit. The traditional bowling shoes have a look reminiscent of the 70s and with the retro look being so in these days many shoe makers and designers are starting to fashion shoes after the look of bowling shoes.
