Adamson wins Pan-Am gold

Jeff Adamson of Saskatoon captured a gold medal at the Pan-American junior wrestling championships at Maracaibo City, Venezuela, during the weekend.

Adamson won four straight matches in the 66-kilogram category for gold. Canada finished first overall with eight individual gold medals.

Adamson pinned his Chilean opponent in the first round, defeated a wrestler from host Venezuela 4-1 in the second round and blanked an American opponent 10-zip in the third round before taking the final 4-1 over a wrestler from Peru.

Adamson is a member of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies wrestling team.
